The wind was about 15 but out of the south, and we had one of the worst rides of the trip (the exception being off Sandy Hook). The waves were short and square, and although only about three feet, we were taking spray on the helm station windows. It seems the direction of the wind is important on the Bay. We'll look for south winds 10 MPH or less, or winds out of the east or west.

Have a Happy New Year!Dave Gibsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00521055331641320893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6383484997934579087.post-46506320060242829662011-12-30T20:38:02.944-05:002011-12-30T20:38:02.944-05:00I thought you guys learned your Chesapeake weather...I thought you guys learned your Chesapeake weather lesson when you motored to Annapolis in calm winds when the forecast had been snotty.

I watched the winds all day, here. The highest I saw was 6 mph. More often than not, it was calm - 3mph. I can't tell you how many times the forecast has been 12-15 and we were lucky to get 6. Though, admittedly this time of year, the forecast is as likely to be better than actual conditions as it is to be a hopeful overshot.

Enjoy New Years Eve in Annapolis. We spent new years eve 2000 docked at Ego Alley. It was quite the experience!

Cheers.brigantinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12209370917771947352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6383484997934579087.post-44258488752299407542011-12-30T16:21:21.008-05:002011-12-30T16:21:21.008-05:00Hey Joe, good to hear from you! As much as anyone plans things out, its the stuff that comes up unexpectedly that makes things interesting. Sometimes a little too interesting.

Hope the weather breaks. This year has been very unpredictable up and down the east coast.

Thanks for the blog.

Joe from SeaviewJoe Mackennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03732767541835994394noreply@blogger.com
