The New Navi-Nuts (patent pending) Arrived Yesterday!

I can't tell you how excited I was when I stopped by the marina office and was handed a package with a return address of our Black Duck Research and Development Laboratory in Westport Connecticut.   I had spoken to Kent, head of research and development of the Navi-Nut (patent pending), and expressed my concern of the large sums of money being spent at the lab.   In response, Kent hired Annie as our new vice-president of audit and control.   Kent said she runs a tight ship and he had to "throw her a bone" (whatever that means) to convince her to let him develop this latest addition to our line of products.

Kent said he was sitting in the lab's think tank, which he said is kept cool and dark to minimize outside distractions.  He was at the R&D table, which he oddly described as being long and narrow, but so high that you need to sit on a stool to be comfortable at it.  Some people even choose to stand and there is a convenient foot rest for them.  Strange, but whatever works.

Kent said he was at a point in research where he was stumped.   Something on the R&D table inspired him.   He didn't say what, and I guess it doesn't really matter.

Without further adieu, I present the newest addition to the Navi-Nut (patent pending) product line.

I can't believe it!  The new Navi-Almond-Nut (patent pending) looks boat like.   It's even got a pointy end.  It's designed such that if your boat rocks, the Navi-Almond-Nut (patent pending) rocks too.  To add a touch of marine authenticity, this model even comes with a coating of salt, just like a real boat.  And are you ready for the absolute BEST part?   IT'S EDIBLE!   I know!  Kent pointed out that any serious cruiser needs to have a ready supply of food close at hand in case abandoning ship is necessary, and what would be closer to the navigator than a bag of Navi-Nuts?

I was so pleased with the results that I told Kent to get himself out of the Black Duck R&D Center and take some time off, along with his employees.  He did just that.  Here's Annie along with another unidentified employee outside playing Frisbee.  Kent said they'd been working like dogs and enjoy unwinding at least once a day.   That's good advice we should all take, even us ROFs.

I have a restored faith in the mission of our Navi-Nut (patent pending) line of products.  Kent, Kurt, LI Boat Guy, and all the rest have done an outstanding job as far as I am concerned and are worth every penny of their lofty salaries.  The old adage of "You get what you pay for" is true.

I've never seen it myself, but I really should get some photos of the Black Duck R&D lab and the rest of the crew from Kent to post here.  Their dedication and tireless efforts at the lab deserve recognition.  Maybe Pam and I should even make a trip up there to  thank everyone in person.

And when I get to Annapolis, I need to make an appointment with an optomotrist.   I don't think I'm seeing as well as I should.  Oh well, must be part of growing old.
