Not Looking Good for Gertie

Poor Gertie isn't getting any better.  She doesn't seem to be in any pain, but she struggles for each breath she takes.

We've taken her to two competent vets.   She's had medications for asthma, heartworm, lung parasites, you name it.   She's been operated on and had all her organs laid out on a table and inspected one by one.   She's been scoped.   Everything looks fine.

I jokingly told the last vet that I think she's faking it to get attention, but it's really not anything to joke about.   She's all skin and bones.   She stopped grooming herself.   She can't keep food down.  She looks haggard and exhausted.

Pam and I are taking her up to Savannah today to see Dr. Gall again.  We need to do something, one way or another.

  1. This is the hardest part of being a pet parent. Please do whatever is best for Gertie. I am so sad for all of you.

  2. Well, we brought her home with us. He did more xrays..... Head and chest. Her lungs look more clear than they used to be. We are going to try some strong parasitic meds since antibiotics and treating for lung disease isn't giving us any improvements. He said as long as she is doing cat things and eating and drinking, then it was up to us. She doesn't seem depressed or in pain. Dr. Gall said that even Dr. Cheek called him to have a conference concerning Gertie. She is a real head scratcher....no one can seem to come up with an answer. We'll keep y'all posted...
